View Individual Students' Test Results on the Student Profile
Students' ELP and standardized test results appear in a Chart and a Table on the Test Results tab of the Student Profile. You can reach this tab using either of the following methods.
Search Using the Search Bar
- Search for the student by name or ID number using the search bar at the top right of your screen.
- Click the student's name to open their profile in the current tab, or click the Open icon to the right to open it in a new tab.
- Click the Test Results tab.
Locate the Student in the Student List
- Apply Filters on the left to narrow down your list and quickly find the student.
- Hover over the student's name.
- Click the arrow to the right of the Student button that appears.
- Select Test Results to open the student's Test Results tab in a new tab.
Chart
At the top of the tab, a Chart displays the student's test results across different assessments.
The Chart supports both ELP and standardized assessment types. You can:
- Choose which assessment to chart by.
- By default, all historical results for the most recently administered standard ELP assessment appear in the Chart. If the student has no ELP results in Ellevation, or only has custom ELP results, the Chart displays results for the first available standardized test in the Assessment dropdown (sorted alphabetically).
- To chart by a different assessment, click the Assessment dropdown at the left and select the assessment you want. Note that you can only chart by standardized assessment types and standard ELP assessment types — custom ELP assessments cannot be charted.
- Choose which score type to chart by.
- Click the Score type dropdown at the left and select the score type you want to display.
- View individual test results.
- Hover over the data points on the Chart to see individual test results.
- Review scores for each test administration in the Table below. Results currently shown in the Chart have a Chart icon to the left of the score record in the Table. Check the Filter Table Results checkbox to show only the charted results in the Table.
- Click a score domain in the legend at the right to show or hide it on the Chart.
- Click the Download icon at the top right of the Chart to download the Chart as a .png image.
ℹ️ Note
If a student has no test results in Ellevation, or only has custom ELP assessment results, the Test Results tab will not include a Chart.
Table
At the bottom of the tab, a Table displays all historical ELP and standardized test score records for the student. You can:
- Choose which assessment(s) to display.
- By default, test results are sorted by test date and all historical ELP and standardized test score records are shown.
- To display only certain test results:
- Click the Assessments: All dropdown at the top right of the Table.
- Search or scroll to find the assessments you want to filter by.
- Click the checkbox to the left of each assessment to display. The list filters as you make selections, and the number of selected assessments appears in the dropdown.
- To show all assessments again, click the Assessments dropdown and select Clear selected items.
- Set a date range for which assessment results to display.
- By default, all historical ELP and standardized test score records are shown.
- To display results from a specific date range:
- Click the Select a date range box at the top right of the Table.
- Use the month and year dropdown menus to find the earliest date in your range, then click the day to set the start of the range.
- Use the month and year dropdown menus to find the latest date in your range, then click the day to set the end.
- To set today's date as the end of the range, click away from the calendar instead of selecting an end date.
- To clear the date range and show all results, click the date range dropdown and select Clear at the bottom of the calendar.
- Click the blue Expand icon to the left of any test result to show or hide score details.
- Click the Dropdown menu icon to the right of an ELP test result to:
- Generate a report of that ELP test result.
- Edit or delete ELP test results if you have edit access. See Add/Import or Edit Test Results below for details.
View and Analyze Test Results in Aggregate in the Student List
The Student List lets you view and analyze test result data across your student population. Use Filters, Fields, and Charts to explore the data from different angles.
To navigate to the Student List:
- Click Students on the navigation bar.
- Select Student List.
Filters
Apply Filters to find students based on their test results. To learn more, see Filter in the Student List.
When you filter by Test Results, you can use Refine options to narrow results by test date. Keep the following behavior in mind:
- For ELP scores in the "English Proficiency" filter category (for example, Writing Level or Writing Scale Score), the filter applies only to the student's most recent ELP test result within your district's ELP model in Ellevation.
- If you use the Refine by Assessment Date option, the filter returns students only if their most recent ELP result falls within that time frame and meets any other filter criteria — even if an earlier result in the time frame also meets the criteria.
- For all other test scores:
- Without refining, the filter returns students who have any score in Ellevation from any date or year that meets the criteria.
- If you select the Most Recent option, the filter returns students whose most recent score meets the criteria, even if that score is not from the most recent test administration. This may surface outdated information if students are missing recent scores in Ellevation.
- If you use the Refine by Assessment Date option, the filter returns students with any score within that time frame that meets the criteria.
Fields
Customize displayed Fields to view test results directly in the Student List. To learn more, see Adjust Displayed Fields in the Student List.
- For ELP scores in the "English Proficiency" field category (for example, Writing Level or Writing Scale Score), the field displays only the student's most recent score within your district's ELP model in Ellevation.
- For all other test scores, the field displays all scores that meet the active filter criteria, in reverse chronological order. See the Filters section above for details on which scores are included with different filter refinements.
- Keep in mind that students and their corresponding test scores appear in the list only if the student meets your active filter criteria.
Charts
Add a Chart to see students grouped visually by test results. You can chart by a score or growth field, and group your chart so students are arranged by one value primarily and a second value secondarily. To learn more, see Add a Chart in the Student List.
- For ELP scores in the "English Proficiency" chart category (for example, Writing Level or Writing Scale Score), the chart displays only the student's most recent score within your district's ELP model in Ellevation.
- For all other test scores, the chart displays all scores that meet the active filter criteria. See the Filters section above for details on which scores are included with different filter refinements.
- Students appear in charts only if they meet the active filter criteria. You can confirm whether a student meets the criteria by checking whether they appear in the list.
💡 Quick Tip
Once you have set up your Filters, Fields, and Charts, save your configuration as a Student List View and/or add it to a Dashboard as a Tile. This lets you return to the same view and take action on the data throughout the year without having to rebuild it each time.
Export/Print Test Results from the Student List
Once you have customized your Student List to include the test result fields you need (see Fields above), you can export the list as a spreadsheet. To learn how, see Export/Print a Custom Spreadsheet of Student Information from the Student List.
⚠️ Warning
Standardized Test scores cannot be included in exports from the Export Wizard.
Generate Reports That Include Test Results
You can generate reports that include important student information, including test results, as a clear, downloadable PDF that can also be printed or saved to student profiles.
- By default, Ellevation's predefined Student Plan and Cumulative Folder report templates include ELP and Standardized Test scores.
- To learn about available report templates and review samples, see Learn about New Reports.
- To generate new reports, see Generate New Reports.
- Depending on your permissions, you may be able to customize report templates to meet your district's needs, including adding, removing, rearranging, and refining which test results are included. To learn how, see Create and Manage Custom Report Templates.
Generate Parent Letters That Include Test Results
You can generate Parent Letters that include important student information, including test results, as a clear, downloadable PDF that can also be printed or saved to student profiles.
- By default, many of Ellevation's predefined Parent Letter Templates include ELP and Standardized Test scores.
- To learn about available Parent Letter Templates and review samples, see Learn about New Parent Letters.
- To generate new Parent Letters, see Generate New Parent Letters.
- Depending on your permissions, you may be able to customize Parent Letter Templates to meet your district's needs, including adding, removing, rearranging, and refining which test results are included in your letters. To learn how, see Create and Manage Custom Parent Letter Templates.
Export Test Results
Export ELP scores and Standardized Test scores using the Export Wizard.
To learn how to export from the Student List, see Use the Export Wizard.
Use Test Scores as Criteria for Meetings/LPACs
To initiate Meetings/LPACs based on student test scores, use the Filter Refinements in the Student List to identify students based on scores from a specific time period or test administration, then initiate a Forms cycle. To learn how, see Take Batch Actions in the Student List (section on adding students to a Form Cycle).
⚠️ Warning
Do not add Test Scores as Student Eligibility Criteria when configuring Meeting/LPAC Forms. Because that criteria cannot be refined by assessment date, it is not possible to reliably identify students who qualify based on their current scores on an ongoing basis.
Add/Import or Edit Test Results
Ellevation Administrators can work with Ellevation to import test score data in bulk.
- To learn how to send ELP or Standardized Test score data from official score files or from your SIS at regular intervals, see Import Test Result Data into Ellevation.
- To learn how to set up an automated nightly upload of ELP score or select Standardized Test score data from your SIS, see Sync Data from Your Student Information System with Ellevation.
- To learn how to manually add, edit, or delete ELP Test Results, see Manually Add Student ELP Test Results.
ℹ️ Note
Standardized Test Results cannot be manually added, edited, or deleted in Ellevation. If standardized test scores are missing or incorrect, contact the Help Desk for assistance.
