Users' Account Types determine what they can see and do in Ellevation. As an Ellevation Administrator, you can create and manage your Account Types, configure the Permissions for each Account Type, and manage user access so that everyone in your school district has the correct level of Ellevation access based on their roles and responsibilities.

Determine How You Should Set Up Your Account Types
To determine how you should set up your Account Types in Ellevation, ask yourself these questions. Refer to the examples below as you think about your district.
Who uses Ellevation in your district?
You may have people across your district who use Ellevation for a variety of purposes.
How would you group them according to what they need to use Ellevation for?
While there are dozens of different roles in your school district, you will create Account Types for each of your groups of users based on what they need to use Ellevation for.
Which Master Account Types should each of those Account Types be aligned to?
By aligning each Account Type to the appropriate Master Account Type, you ensure that users of that Account Type have the appropriate levels of access. Master Account Types determine which students people have access to, which items they see on the navigation bar, and which users or Account Types they can view Ellevation as. To learn more about Master Account Types, see Create and Manage Account Types.
Step 1: Create Account Types
Go to the Account Types Management page to review and update your Account Types.
- Change the names and descriptions of Ellevation's five standard Account Types on the Account Types Management page as needed.
- Create new Account Types as needed.
ℹ️ Note
Creating additional custom Account Types requires the Pro tier. Contact the Help Desk if you have questions about your district's tier.
Step 2: Configure Permissions
Go to the Manage Permissions page to review and update Permissions for all Account Types.
Step 3: Assign Account Types
Go to the User Management page to assign Account Types to the appropriate users.
- You may want to automate your users' Account Types based on information in your staff file. To learn more, see Manage Ellevation Users.
