Configure Services and Programs in Ellevation's Legacy Program Model

šŸ” Account type(s) with default permissions to manage this: Administrator

šŸ’» Tier(s) this is available for: Foundation, Essential, Pro

Legacy Programs let districts in Texas track the type of Bilingual or EL service a student is enrolled in. As an Administrator, you can keep your district's list of Services and Programs accurate and ready to assign to students.

ā„¹ļø Note

The Legacy Program model is currently available for select partners in Texas. If you use Ellevation's new Language Program model instead, see Configure Language Programs or Configure EL Services.

To manage your Legacy Programs, you can:

Navigate to the EL/ELL/LEP Services Settings Page

To open the EL/ELL/LEP Services Settings page:

  1. Go to the Admin menu icon at the top right of your screen.
  2. Click Ellevation Settings.
  3. Select EL/ELL/LEP Services.

Configure Which Services Are Offered

The EL/LEP Services that can be assigned to students in your district are listed on the EL Services Settings page.

Each Service has a custom Service Title and is aligned to an available EL Service Type in Ellevation. The EL Service Type that a Service is aligned to determines the standard description included for that Service on Parent Letters.

By default, the View Active option is selected, so only active Services are displayed. To view or edit inactive Services, select View All at the top of the page.

Add a New EL Service

  1. Click +Add EL Service.
  2. Enter a custom EL Service Title.
  3. Choose the most closely aligned EL Service Type from the dropdown.
  4. Click Save.

Edit an EL Service

āš ļø Warning

Avoid changing EL Services that are currently assigned to students. Any change you make will affect historical data. To check whether a Service is in use, look at the Students column: if the number is greater than 0, the Service is assigned to students and should not be edited.

If the Service is assigned to one or more students, deactivate the Service you want to adjust and create a new one:

  1. Click the Service name.
  2. Uncheck the Active checkbox.
  3. Click Change Status in the confirmation popup.
  4. Follow the steps in Add a New EL Service above to create a replacement.

If the Service is assigned to no students, you can edit or delete it.

To edit the Service Title:

  1. Click the Service name.
  2. Click Rename to the right of the Service Title.
  3. Update the Service Title, then click Rename below the new title.
  4. Click Rename EL Service in the confirmation popup.

To change the Service Type, select a new type from the dropdown, then click Save.

To delete the Service:

  1. Click the Service name.
  2. Click Delete EL Service.
  3. Click Delete EL Service in the confirmation popup.

Configure Which Programs Are Offered

The list of Program Models in Ellevation aligns with your state-defined list of Bilingual and EL Programs. You can tailor the list so that only Programs offered in your district can be assigned to students.

To add or remove a Program Model from the list offered in your district:

  1. Check or uncheck the checkboxes to the left of the Program names.
  2. Click Save Program Changes.

Configure Default Program Year/Semester

If student Programs are updated through a nightly automated update from your SIS, you must select a default academic period for student Program assignments in case the academic period is missing from your SIS import.

To update the default Program year or semester:

  1. Select the appropriate year from the School Year dropdown.
  2. Select the appropriate time period from the Semester dropdown.
  3. Click Save Default Year/Semester.

šŸ’” Quick Tip

Once Programs are configured in Ellevation, you can update this field automatically through your nightly SIS update. See Sync Data from Your Student Information System with Ellevation.
