Ellevation Strategies Professional Learning modules are part of a comprehensive professional learning solution that equips educators to effectively teach and support their language learners in any class. These immersive modules help educators put new knowledge about multilingual learners into classroom practice, apply student data in practical and meaningful ways, access supporting instructional activities, and reflect on the work.

ℹ️ Note

Strategies modules require the Professional Learning add-on, in addition to the Pro tier. If you don't see modules, check with your Ellevation Administrator.

How to Use Modules

To preview, start, resume, or review a module, select the module's button. The button name varies as follows:

  • Preview: Lets you preview and explore module content without starting the module. Learn more about preview mode below.
  • Start: You have never started the module.
  • Resume: You have opened the module at least once, but may or may not have completed parts of it. You can resume an in-progress module and edit your responses as many times as needed before completing it.
  • Review: You have completed the module by submitting all responses and received a Completion Certificate. You can access and download your Completion Certificate and your responses at any time from completed modules.

⚠️ Warning

You cannot reset a module once it has been started, and the Preview option will no longer appear after a module has been started. You also cannot re-take a completed module or edit your responses after submitting.

Each module follows the same three-part structure:

  1. Learn: Educators learn about their multilingual learners and how to best support them.
  2. Teach: Educators apply what they learned in the Learn section to their classrooms, using a best-practice instructional Ellevation activity. To learn more, read Learn about Activities.
  3. Reflect: Educators reflect on their classroom experience using one or more activities with their students.
The three-part Learn, Teach, and Reflect structure of a module

📝 Each module follows the same Learn, Teach, and Reflect structure.

The sections can be completed out of sequence, but Learn, Teach, and Reflect must all be fully completed, with responses that meet the minimum character count, before you can submit a module and receive a Completion Certificate. Responses are auto-saved as you progress through a module.

Each module includes the following sections:

  • Learn
    • Outcomes and Video: Review the professional learning outcomes for the module, watch a topical video, and complete a reaction prompt.
    • My Student Data: View a custom dashboard of your students' data and complete a connection prompt.
    • Article: Review key terms, read an article on research-based pedagogical best practices related to the module topic, and complete a response prompt.
  • Teach
    • Teach with an Activity: Choose from a few best-practice Ellevation activities to apply in your classroom. You select the activity you plan to try from a single-select list, and share ideas for how you plan to apply it to impact student outcomes.
  • Reflect
    • Post-Teaching Reflection: After teaching a lesson using at least one of the activities from the Teach section, return to the module to complete a reflection prompt describing your experience.
  • Complete
    • Review Responses: Review and edit your responses from previous sections before selecting Submit to complete the module. Responses with fewer than 100 characters are flagged as incomplete, and you will not be able to select Submit.
    • Certificate of Completion: For completed modules, download your Certificate of Completion and your reflection responses as proof of completion (for example, for PD credit).
