Import ELP and State Assessment Results with Box

🔐 Account type(s) with default permissions to manage this: All Account Types

💻 Tier(s) this is available for: Foundation, Essential, Pro

To keep your EL program data current, you can import ELP and state assessment results into Ellevation through Box, a secure, reliable file processing platform that replaced Sharefile in January 2026. Box accepts any test file that meets our formatting requirements, and a subset of those tests can be processed automatically once the files have been uploaded to Box.

Import Your Test Results

You can submit any assessment file that meets our formatting requirements through Box, whether or not it qualifies for automated processing. To import your district's results, submit the Ellevation Import Requests form.

💡 Quick Tip

Bookmark the Ellevation Import Requests form so you can find it quickly at the start of each assessment season.

Tests That Are Eligible for Automated Import

While Box accepts any test file that meets the requirements in our guide, the following assessments can also be automatically added to Ellevation within about three (3) hours of you uploading them to Box.

For these tests, files that match our formatting specifications are processed without any addiitonal back-and-forth with Ellevation:

  • ELPAC Summative, Initial, and ALT
  • CAASPP/SBAC (for California districts)
  • TELPAS and TELPAS ALT (.txt or .dat files)
  • STAAR/EOC (.txt or .dat files)
  • WIDA ACCESS Alt (2024 or later)
  • WIDA Screener
  • ELPA21 Summative, ELPA21 Screener, ALT ELPA, ALT ELPA Screener
  • ACCESS 2.0 and WIDA ACCESS (due to file formatting discrepancies, IL Summative and MN ACCESS require manual imports. IL Prelim files will be imported automatically)

Other assessments not listed here can still be imported through Box (somebody from the Ellevation Help Desk with reach out with next steps for non-automated imports).

⚠️ Warning

While most ACCESS files process automatically, Illinois (IL) Summative and Minnesota (MN) Summative files require manual processing due to formatting differences. Please continue to upload these through Box. A support ticket is created automatically for our team to handle the import.

Confirm Your ELP Scores Were Imported

Automated imports do not trigger a confirmation notification, so it is worth verifying that your scores arrived as expected. You can check for yourself in the Student List or in the ELP Score Wizard. We recommend checking first in the Student List, which is typically easier and faster than using the ELP Score Wizard.

If you recently uploaded files to Box, your test is eligible for automated import, and your file matched our formatting specifications, you can expect scores to appear in Ellevation within about three hours.

Use the Student List (recommended method)

  1. Open the Students dropdown.
  2. Select Student List.
  3. Filter by Designation (is any of > EL).
  4. Spot check the default Composite Level Field (aka column) for the test date you're looking for.
  5. If you do not see test scores with test dates within your recent testing window, it has been over 3 hours since you uploaded your file to Box, and you did not receive a Help Desk ticket, please proceed to double-check the ELP Score Wizard before reaching out to our Product Support team for assistance.

Review Your Mappings

Your list of mappings appears at the top of the page. In the ELP Score Wizard, the text next to the green clock tells you how each mapping is imported:

  • A green clock labeled Automated File Drop Insert indicates that your district has uploaded files for that test through Box.
  • A green clock labeled DI-XXXX indicates that those files are automated in a different way, either from your SIS or through an SFTP import rather than Box.

The mapping name above each green clock shows you which ELP test has been imported.

📝 The mapping name above each clock identifies the ELP test that was imported. The LAST CHANGED date does not show when the scores were imported - it shows when the mapping was last edited.

Check Recent Comparisons and Updates

To confirm that scores were imported, scroll down to Recent Comparisons and Updates in the ELP Score Wizard. Each row shows the mapping name, the date and time of the import, and a status. A status of OK indicates a successful import.

For example, a WIDA Alternate ACCESS Automated File Drop mapping might show Alt ACCESS scores imported on 6/10 at 11:08 AM with a status of OK, while a WIDA ACCESS Automated File Drop mapping shows ACCESS scores imported on 6/10 at 10:54 AM, also with a status of OK.
