This article walks you through configuring Forms signature settings and setting which account types can access and take action in Forms, and how to find Forms once those permissions are in place. Set the Digital Signature Type for Forms
The Digital Signature Type setting controls which signature options are available on Forms across your district. Based on your district's needs, select the option that best meets your compliance requirements.
To set the signature type:
- From the top navigation bar, click the Settings (gear) icon, then select Forms Settings > District Form Configurations.
- In the Digital Signature Type section, review the available Signature Options.
- Select the option that matches your district's compliance requirements: Select and Draw, Select Only, or Draw Only.
- Your selection saves automatically. The confirmation "Successfully updated signature type" appears at the top of the page.
Each Signature Options setting controls which signature methods are available on Forms:
- Select and Draw: Both signature methods are available. Signers can either select a signature or draw one.
- Select Only: Only the select method is available. Signers select a signature and cannot draw one.
- Draw Only: Only the draw method is available. Signers draw their signature and cannot select one.
💡 Quick Tip
Because the Digital Signature Type applies to every Form in your district, confirm your district's signature and compliance requirements before changing it, and let staff who complete Forms know about the update.
Set Forms Permissions for Account Types
To let account types such as Specialist, Principal, or Teacher take action in Forms, an Administrator updates permissions from the User Management page.
- Click the Gear Icon in the navigation bar.
- Select User Management > Permissions.
- On the Permissions page, scroll to the Forms section.
- To grant a permission to an account type, click the corresponding + [Account Type] button — for example, + Principal or + Specialist.
💡 Quick Tip
You can grant or remove permissions for multiple account types from this same page. Scroll through the full Forms section to review all available permissions before saving your changes.
Forms Permissions Explained
The table below describes what each Forms permission allows each account type to do. Use it as a reference when deciding which roles need access to specific Forms actions in your district.
A downloadable and printable version of the Forms permissions table is available in this Google Doc of the Forms permissions table.
⚠️ Warning
Critical instructions for completing Forms currently appear only in the permissions table image above. Until alt text or a text-based version of this table is added to this article, keep the linked Google Doc current and accessible for all readers.
Access Forms in Ellevation
Once permissions are set, any user with the appropriate account type can open Forms directly from the main navigation bar.
- Click Forms in the top navigation bar.
⚠️ Warning
If you don't see Forms in your navigation bar, your district's Ellevation Administrator will need to enable the appropriate permission for your account type before you can access it.
