Set a Dashboard as a Homepage or the Strategies Home

🔐 Account type(s) with default permissions to manage this: Administrator

💻 Tier(s) this is available for: Foundation, Essential, Pro

Setting a dashboard as a Homepage controls which dashboard users across your district open to when they first log in to Ellevation. As an Administrator, you can set a Homepage for the whole district or for specific Account Types, and districts using Ellevation Strategies can set a dashboard as the Strategies Home.

ℹ️ Note

You must have a saved dashboard before you can set it as a Homepage. Create or customize the dashboard first, then return here to set it for your district or an Account Type. If you don't see Set as Homepage in the Actions menu, this permission may not be enabled for your Account Type. Contact your Ellevation Administrator to request access. Prepare Your Dashboards for District-Wide Use

Before you set a dashboard as a District or Account Type Homepage, make sure it will be useful and clear for everyone who will see it. Keep in mind:

  • Each user sees the tiles you have configured, populated with the student data they have permission to access in Ellevation. A tile that shows data across multiple schools, for example, is meaningful to district-level staff but not to campus-level staff who can only access one school.
  • All users see the dashboard name and the tile names you set, so make sure those names are clear and relevant for your full audience.

Set a Dashboard as a Homepage

💡 Quick Tip

Each user can only have one active Homepage at a time. When multiple Homepages apply, Ellevation uses this priority order: (1) Account Type Homepage, (2) District Homepage, (3) Personal Homepage. Setting an Account Type Homepage will always take precedence over the District Homepage for users in that Account Type.

You set a Homepage from the dashboard's Actions menu. Start by opening the dashboard you want to use, then choose who it applies to.

  1. Open the dashboard you want to set as a Homepage. To switch to a different dashboard, click the dashboard name with the dropdown arrow in the top-left corner and select the one you want.
  2. Click the Actions button in the top-right corner, then select Set as Homepage.
  3. In the Set as Homepage window, under Set as homepage for, choose who the Homepage applies to, then follow the matching steps below.
The Actions menu open in the top-right corner of a dashboard, showing options including Set as Homepage.

📝 Opening the Actions menu and selecting Set as Homepage.

To set a District Homepage:

  1. Select District.
  2. Click Set as Homepage. This dashboard becomes the default Homepage for everyone in your district who does not have an Account Type Homepage that applies to them.

To set an Account Type Homepage:

  1. Select Account Type.
  2. In the Add Account Types to the Dashboard field, type and select each Account Type this Homepage should apply to, such as EL Specialist.
  3. Click Set as Homepage.
The Set as Homepage window with Account Type selected, showing the Add Account Types to the Dashboard field with EL Specialist available to select.

ℹ️ Note

Setting a dashboard as a Strategies Home requires the Essential, Pro tier. If you don't see the Strategies option, check with your Ellevation Administrator.

To set a Strategies Home:

  1. Select Strategies.
  2. Click Set as Homepage.

Set a Homepage Using a Dashboard Shared With You

You can only set a dashboard as a Homepage if you own it. If someone shared a dashboard with you, make your own copy by cloning it first, then set the copy as a Homepage.

  1. Open the shared dashboard. Click the dashboard name with the dropdown arrow in the top-left corner and select the shared dashboard you want to use.
  2. Click the Actions button in the top-right corner, then select Clone Current Dashboard.
  3. In the Clone Dashboard window, enter a Title for your copy. This becomes the name of your own version of the dashboard. Add a Description if you want one.
  4. Click Clone.
  5. With your cloned dashboard open, follow the steps in Set a Dashboard as a Homepage to set it as a Homepage for your district or an Account Type.

ℹ️ Note

When you clone a dashboard, the tiles in the copy will not remain linked to their views, so they act as independent copies in your cloned dashboard.

Administrators with permission to set Homepages can also add a Dashboard Message that appears at the top of all dashboards for all users. To learn more, see Set a Custom Dashboard Message.
