Access Dashboards

When you first log in to Ellevation, or whenever you click the Ellevation logo in the top-left corner of any page, you go directly to your Homepage Dashboard.

Accessing your saved and shared dashboards from the Ellevation Homepage.

📝 Accessing your dashboards from the Ellevation Homepage.

Users with permission to set Homepages for others (typically Ellevation Administrators) can set a Homepage Dashboard at the District level or by Account Type. If no Homepage has been set for your district or Account Type, you see your Personal Homepage. To learn more, see Learn About Homepages.

To open a different dashboard you have saved or that has been shared with you:

  1. Click the name of the current dashboard, or the down arrow (▾) next to it, in the top-left corner of the page.
  2. In the Switch Dashboard panel, use the tabs to find the dashboard you want:
    • All Dashboards lists every dashboard you own or can access.
    • My Saved lists the dashboards you created.
    • Shared with Me lists dashboards that others have shared with you.
  3. Click a dashboard to open it. Labels, such as the My Dashboard or Shared with District tags, help you identify who owns each one and how they are being used.

To create a new dashboard:

  2. Select Create new dashboard from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the Create New Dashboard window, enter a Title (required) and an optional Description.

Share a Dashboard with Others

Sharing a dashboard lets your colleagues access the same tile layout you have configured. Each person who views the shared dashboard sees it populated with the student data they have permission to access in Ellevation, based on their own account settings and school-level access.

ℹ️ Note

You can only share dashboards you own, and the sharing options available to you depend on your account permissions. Sharing is not the same as setting a Homepage (for example, you can share dashboards with one or more schools, but you can't set a dashboard as a Homepage for a school). To set a dashboard as a Homepage for others, see Learn About Homepages.

Depending on your permissions, you can share a dashboard with:

  • Individual users
  • All users in a user group
  • All users at one or more schools
  • All users with a particular Account Type
  • All users in the district
Opening the Share Dashboard window from the Actions menu.

📝 Sharing a dashboard from the Actions menu.

Open the sharing options. To share the dashboard you are currently viewing, click the Actions button and select Share Dashboard. To share a different dashboard, open Switch Dashboard, find the dashboard, click its More (⋮) icon, and select Share. Then follow the steps for the kind of sharing you want.

To share with specific people, groups, Account Types, or schools:

  1. In the field labeled Enter names of people, user groups, account types, or schools, type a name and select it from the list. Repeat to add more recipients.
  2. Leave Send Email Notification checked to notify recipients by email, or uncheck it to share without a notification.
  3. Add an optional message in the Note (Optional) field.
  4. Click Save.

To share with your entire district:

  1. Under General Access, turn on the Share with District toggle.
  2. Click Save.

To transfer ownership of the dashboard: Reach out to Ellevation Product Support at support@ellevationeducation.com to request a dashboard be transferred to you (i.e. if you are the new Ellevation Administrator and the previous dashboard owner is no longer at the district).

Unshare a Dashboard

To change or remove the sharing settings for a dashboard you own, open the sharing options the same way: click Actions and select Share Dashboard, or open Switch Dashboard, click the dashboard's More (⋮) icon, and select Share. Then update the settings.

To stop sharing with your entire district:

  1. Under General Access, turn off the Share with District toggle.
  2. Click Save.

To remove access for specific people or groups:

  1. In the People and Groups with Access list, remove the person or group you no longer want to have access.
  2. Click Save.

⚠️ Warning

You cannot change sharing settings for dashboards that you do not own.

Set a Dashboard as a Homepage

Setting a dashboard as a Homepage makes it the default view that appears when the selected users log in to Ellevation. Depending on your permissions, you can set a homepage for your entire district, for a specific Account Type, for Strategies, or just for yourself.

To learn about Ellevation Homepages see Learn About Homepages.

  1. Open the dashboard you want to set as a homepage. If it is not already displayed, use Switch Dashboard to find and open it first.
  2. Click the Actions button and select Set as Homepage. To set a different dashboard, open Switch Dashboard, click the dashboard's More (⋮) icon, and select Set as Homepage.
  3. In the Set as Homepage window, under Set as homepage for, choose who the homepage applies to:
    • District sets the dashboard as the homepage for everyone in your district.
    • Account Type sets it as the homepage for a specific Account Type.
    • Strategies sets it as the Strategies Homepage, which users reach from the Strategies button in the top navigation bar.
    • Personal sets it as your own homepage only. This option will only appear if you have no District or Account Type Homepage Dashboard set for you.
  4. Click Set as Homepage.
The Set as Homepage window with options to set the dashboard as a homepage for District, Account Type, Strategies, or Personal.

📝 Setting a dashboard as a Homepage.

ℹ️ Note

Each person sees the homepage populated with only the data they have permission to access in Ellevation (for example, classroom teachers will only see data for EL students currently in their classes; Principals will see data for all EL students at their campus; and so on).

The District and Account Type options require permission to set Homepages for others, and the Strategies option requires permission to set the Strategies Home. See Review or Update Dashboard Permissions below. For more about Homepages, see Learn About Homepages.

Delete a Dashboard

⚠️ Warning

Deleting a dashboard permanently removes the dashboard and all tiles on it. This cannot be undone. Any Views linked to those tiles will not be deleted and remain accessible from the Student List.

To delete a dashboard you own:

  1. Open the dashboard you want to delete. If it is not already displayed, use Switch Dashboard to find and open it first.
  2. Click the Actions button and select Delete. To delete a different dashboard, open Switch Dashboard, click the dashboard's More (⋮) icon, and select Delete.
  3. In the Delete Dashboard? confirmation, confirm that you want to proceed, then click Delete.

Review or Update Dashboard Permissions

All users, regardless of Account Type, can create, edit, and share their own dashboards, including adding or editing Strategies tiles (available with Ellevation Strategies). No special permissions are required for these actions.

However, setting a dashboard as a Homepage for others, or setting a dashboard as the Strategies Home, does require specific permissions for users who do not have an Administrator Account Type.
